Responsibilities:
• Works with large scale welding projects and processes.
• Provides design input and recommends engineering design modifications.
• Ensures welding jobs meet electromechanical and mechanical specifications and installation instructions.
• Ensures installations meet specified tolerances.
• Inspects welding jobs in accordance to specific codes.
• Trains other welders on proper mechanics and processes.
• May prepare instructional guides for repairing, calibrating, and maintaining equipment systems.
Requirements:
• Relies on experience and judgment to include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• GTAW Welding/ Steel, Welds metal parts together to fabricate or repair foundations and supports for the mounting of shipboard or shore site electronic equipment using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes.
• Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding. Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Must be able to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to work and interpret blueprints, drawings, technical manuals, work orders, handbooks, and other technical documentation.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• The Welder must provide his/her own tools to perform necessary Job Duties.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Perception of color and depth required. Able to work in confined spaces and at heights. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
