To learn more please visit us at: wheelabratortechnologies.com We currently have an opening for an Equipment Operator at Wheelabrator Portsmouth located in Portsmouth, VA. Summary: - Performs duties relevant to all phases of Ash Management Building operations. - Operates Yard Dog tractor to move ash end dump trailers around the yard and backs them into position under ash load out belt. - Monitors trailer filling and weight to ensure trucks and trailers are legal for over the road travel. - Responsible for cleanliness of truck load out area. - Responsible for operation and cleanliness of ferrous and non-ferrous metal recovery systems. - Loads metal trucks - Safely and effectively operates heavy equipment in the course of daily operations. - Performs routine maintenance checks on mobile equipment and reports malfunctions. - Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Works rotating shift. - Works overtime as required. Education/Experience: - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. - Six months experience operating mobile equipment. - Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform equipment maintenance, minor repairs and general preventative maintenance.
